I go to school in New London Connecticut, and there's a chance I'm going to have reason to go up to UConn in Storrs (slash Mansfield) Connecticut on a regular basis next year. Unfortunately I'm a broke student with no car, so keeping the travel cheap is massively important. I've researched all the national options thoroughly and have gotten it down to $42 roundtrip (commuter rail to new haven, greyhound to hartford, megabus to storrs on thursdays, greyhound back to new london on fridays) but--being unfamiliar with public transit--it feels to me like there should be a cheaper option. I am entirely unfamiliar with the local bus routes and so forth, and am hoping that there'd be a way to inch my way upstate via cheaper, smaller buses. Making a lot of stops/transfers isn't an issue, but money is ha. Any ideas, vague or specific (although the more specific the better) would be hugely appreciated.
